Buxus sempervirens

Common Boxwood

Zone 5–7 or 8. Can grow to 15–20' H × 15–20' W, but rarely does so in cultivation. Slow growing to 2' from a rooted cutting in the field in 4–5 years; used for hedging, specimen planting, massing, and topiary work; lustrous dark green and fine textured; native to southern Europe, northern Africa, and western Asia (I include the native habitat note to further confuse those already confused about English, Korean, Asiatic, and American boxwoods). (Sometimes referred to Asian or Korean Boxwood, often mislabeled American Boxwood)
