Cercidiphyllum japonicum
Katsuratree
Zone 5–8. 40–60' H & W. Pyramidal when young with variability over time from pyramidal to spreading; new foliage is vibrant reddish-purple changing to bluish-green in summer and varying from apricot to yellow more often; Dirr says if he could only have one tree, this would be it; this is the largest deciduous tree of China where this tree reaches heights of 60–100'; foliage is open and loose, allowing plenty of air circulation; grows in sun or shade; tolerant of wind, but not drought; we damaged some trees by injecting disyston into the soil as a systemic insecticide.
