Ilex ‘Blue Maid’(x meserveae I. rugosa x I. aquifolium) Blue Maid Holly Zone 4–9. One of the hardiest of the blue hollies although most have shown to be hardy to zone 4; moderate growth rate to 15'; forms a broad pyramid and produces abundant red fruit; great looking glossy leaves have a rich green color year-round; leaves larger than I. x ‘Prince’ & I. x ‘Princess’ and in my opinion, are more lustrous throughout the season. We grow ‘Blue Maid’ as a pyramidal form for specimen planting and semi-sheared for hedging. |
