Viburnum ‘Winterthur’(V. nudum) Winterthur Viburnum Zone 5–8. 5' H × 5' W. Important feature, I think, is late blooming in May here after all the other viburnums are finished plus lustrous, deep green foliage in summer to outstanding deep wine-red in fall with initially white fruit to hot pink to bright blue—tremendous interest in all seasons; does not perform well in alkaline soil. The fall foliage is reason enough to stop growing Euonymous alatus, now being considered for the invasive list. |
